Cinnamon Roll Ice Cream Sundae

A warm cinnamon roll and cold vanilla ice cream is one of those combinations that needs no defending. This is the assembly instructions version of a recipe: five minutes, no baking, and a temperature contrast that does all the work.

Ingredients
- 1 cinnamon roll
- 2 scoops vanilla ice cream
- Warmed icing from the roll
- Optional: caramel sauce, toasted pecans, flaky salt
Instructions
- 01
Warm the cinnamon roll: 12 to 15 seconds in the microwave, or 6 minutes in a 300F oven.
- 02
Set it in a shallow bowl and press the center down slightly to make a well.
- 03
Scoop the ice cream directly into the well so it starts to melt into the swirl.
- 04
Drizzle the warmed icing over the top, then add caramel, pecans or a pinch of flaky salt if you are going all the way.
- 05
Eat immediately. This dish has a 90-second window and it is worth respecting.
Tips
- Warm roll, cold ice cream. If both are room temperature you have just made a bowl of sweet.
- Flaky salt on top is the difference between good and memorable.
Variations
- Use coffee ice cream instead of vanilla for something closer to dessert at a diner.
- Add sliced bananas and a little cocoa for a cinnamon roll banana split.
